For Martti, reindeer are not a tourist attraction. They have been part of his life for as long as he can remember.
Meän Porot is a traditional reindeer farm in Kallo, surrounded by the forests of Lapland. Martti has worked with reindeer throughout his life and today welcomes guests to experience a small part of that world.
The sleigh reindeer are trained patiently over several years, learning to trust people, work in harness and follow the trail. Their workload is carefully monitored, and their wellbeing always comes before the ride.

AFTER THE RIDE

TRANSPORT FROM LEVI
Transport is not included in the experience price.
The farm is located near the SnowVillage in Lainio and can also be reached by bus from Levi. It’s a short walk to the farm.
GOOD TO KNOW
A few things to know before heading out with the Reindeer
01. LET THE REINDEER LEAD
Sit back in the sleigh and enjoy the journey. The reindeer know the trail and set their own pace sometimes walking peacefully, and sometimes picking up a little speed.
02. DRESS FOR THE ARCTIC
Warm winter clothing, gloves and proper winter footwear are essential. Remember that you’ll be sitting still in the sleigh, so dress especially warmly.
03. WEATHER & TRAIL CONDITIONS
Distance and duration can vary slightly depending on snow, weather and trail conditions. The wellbeing of the reindeers always comes first.
